The Hunger Games

Closing and opening lines of each book-

Hunger Games
When I wake up, the other side of the bed is cold.
I take his hand, holding tightly, preparing for the cameras and dreading the moment I will finally let go.

Catching Fire
I clasp the flask between my hands even though the warmth from the tea has long since leached into the frozen air.
Katniss, there is no District Twelve.

Mockingjay-
I stare down at my shoes, watching as a fine layer of ash settles on to the worn leather
But there are much worse games to play

Coaches Vs. Cancer

My school has participated in the Coaches VS. Cancer program for 4 years. In 2012 we raised $41,000. We were the #1 fundraiser in the midwest and in the top two nationally. Our goal this year is to be first in the nation. This works so well because we get everyone in the town involved. The T-shirt printing company sells t-shirts and donates the profits. Some local businesses in town sell headbands or socks. Other businesses donate things to the silent auction held during the games. We have $5 hats to hundred dollar signed footballs. All the elementary schools and middle school has fundraising of their own. There is a supper before the game and cookies with pink frosting, pink ice cream, and regular concessions are sold during the game. The high school does tattoos, hair extensions, and nail stickers. During the day before the game there is alumni games that alumni can volunteer to play in. Even the other team is involved by wearing pink socks for the game! The girls team has special pink uniforms and between the boys and girls game there is a special ceremony for anyone   that has had cancer in our town. And this isn't just for basketball players. The bowling team has a open tournament and the swim team can pledge to swim a mile for a certain amount of money. This all goes towards cancer research.

-style my hair- braid, bun, twist?
-Get a new phone
-get a new bed
-paint my room green or blue
-paint my desk white
-organize my closet
-run a mile in under 10 min
-get in better shape
-save money

I'll be posting if I get any of these done!

Elf quote- love it!

Christmas Traditions

With the holidays in full swing, now is a time for tradition more than ever. In my family, on Christmas Eve we go to the Christmas eve church service and come home to watch "it's a wonderful life" or "the polar express" and leave milk and cookies for Santa. (or vice versa if we are going to the midnight service.) Another Tradition is we always hang up my dad's handmade ornament from 1981 side by side with my brother's handmade ornament from 2010. What are you holiday traditions? Comment!

The Season is in Full-swing at my school. Our First game is Next Thursday and everyone is super-psyched! I pretty much ready, But there is still a few things I need to get. I have my shoes, two pairs of tall black socks for games and sports socks for practices, black tees to wear under my black jersey, A couple pairs of sweapants, and a gray Nike sweatband. All I need is:
-Basketball Shorts
-Maybe another pair of Sweatpants
-Nike Air Jordan Sandals (black and pink, or black and gold if they make them)
-A Gold Shirt to wear under my Gold Jersey (I have one but I need a new one)

Is there anything you still need to get for your winter sports? Basketball? Wrestling?
